Voiceplay

Alison Street and Linda Bance

Series : Voiceworks

This inspired collection of 22 songs for children aged 3-5 years is a brilliant resource cast in the same mould as Voiceworks. The authors have drawn on their unrivalled experience of working with young children to create a songbook which can be used by all practitioners, whether or not they are music specialists, in every Early Years setting. There is plenty of hands-on advice; each song is accompanied by concise notes which guide the leader through selecting a song and singing it, and there are also suggestions for extension activities including movement and playing instruments. With an emphasis on empowering the practitioner and encouraging children to embark on their own vocal and musical adventures, the material in Voiceplay is structured to support a range of different situations and requirements, and links directly inot the foundation stage six areas of learning.
The children's book is also available separately.

Reviews

  • 'In fact, Voiceplay with it wire-bound format, almost provides three publications in one - a teacher's manual, the CD, and an illustrated children's book with words and pictures for 11 of the songs. One of the good things about Voiceplay is that while aimed at a pre-school of KS1 environment, its format is flexible enough to be used equally ny carers or parents at home - as I intend to with my own four-year-old'. Matthew Greenall, The Singer April 07
  • '. . . generalist teachers will find the layout of the book and teaching points user friendly. The accompanying CD is well produced, with a good mix of both male and female adult voices and children's voices.' Paul Ayres, Sheet Music Review Sept 06
